Jean Raine Aluchromie

Jean Raine (1927 - 1986), without title, 1963

Aluchromy. Monogrammed and dated 'R 63'. 200 x 99 cm

Jean Raine was a member of the CoBrA group, a European avant-garde movement active from 1948 to 1951. One of the new approaches that united the COBRA artists was their unrestrained use of strong colors, along with violent handwritings and figuration which can be either frightening or humorous. In this work the influence of the CoBrA movement is very strong.

Jean Raine was a close friend of Pierre Alechinsky.

His art work is part of the collection of the Modern Art Museum in Brussels and of the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris.
